About Botswana
After 80 years as a British protectorate, Bechuanaland attained self – government in 1965, becoming the Independent Republic of Botswana on September 30,1966, and maintaining a position of stability and harmony ever since. Botswana is a landlocked country situated in Southern Africa. Botswana is one of the world‘s largest producers of diamonds, and has some of the most notable safari destinations in Africa. Botswana is one of Africa’s most stable countries and is the continent’s longest, continuous multi-party democracy. It is relatively free of corruption and has a good human rights record.
The Capital city of Botswana is Gaborone, which is located at the southern part of the country. Botswana’s official language is English and the National language is Setswana. Currency is Botswana Pula(BWP).
Botswana’s economy is most dependent on Diamond mining, tourism, livestock and agriculture.
